Australian Golfer Gives Thanks After Earning Tour Card

The Ken Jowdy Journal brings you this nice story from The Australian. Queenslander Rod Pampling recently retained his US PGA Tour membership by the narrowest of margins. Pampling made it into the top 125 and earned a full card for 2012 when he finished 124th on the season money list, with just $2033 to spare. But it was what he did after that has made an impression around the sport. Pampling spent the next month trying to contact every tournament director who gave him a sponsor exemption, thanking them for helping him get his card again. For more read here:

Rory McIlroy Roars Back to Win Hong Kong Open

Invention Helps Golfers Improve Their Swing

The Ken Jowdy Journal found this item about a cool little invention. Maryland resident Bob McGinnes invented the Golf Addresser, which easily folds and fits in a golf bag. "When opened and laid out, the collapsible plastic tool helps golfers adjust their feet and improve their swing." For more read here.

Rory McIlrory Gets Rid of Chubby

Ken Jowdy File brings you this article.  Rory McIlroy dropped his manager, Chubby Chandler, to join his compatriot Graeme McDowell at a smaller agency.

The US Open champion broke the news to Chandler, the founder and managing director of International Sports Management, immediately after this after this week's Grand Slam of Golf in Bermuda.  Chandler was apparently surprised by the move.

 

Jim Furyk Looks to Rack Up Frequent Flier Miles

Ken Jowdy Review brings you this article.  Jim Furyk is playing in Shanghai before the Nov. 17-20 matches at Royal Melbourne in Australia.  That may seem like a lot of traveling as there will be other Presidents Cup player there.  However, Furyk will go home to Florida in between.

Furyk will be in the air roughly 25,000 miles before getting to Royal Melbourne.

IMG's Shanghai Draws the Ire of the PGA

Ken Jowdy Journal is following the story about a non-sanctioned golf tournament put on by IMG. The Shanghai Master's is offering a $5 million purse with $2 million going to the winner. That's attracted some big name golfers. Problem is the PGA has its Asia Pacific Classic in Malaysia the same week. The PGA event has a bigger purse but is giving $1 million to the winner.

Anderson wins Canadian Tour Championship

This year has been a memorable one for Stuart Anderson. The 33-year-old professional golfer from Fort McMurray was inducted into the Wood Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame earlier this year and just captured his second Canadian Tour Championship on Sunday in a nail-biting finish.

McIlroy takes time off to see love interest Wozniacki

Rory McIlroy is looking forward to taking a few weeks away from competitive golf after the US PGA Championship, as he looks to recover from a wrist injury.

However, rather than return to his home in Northern Ireland or go house-hunting for a base in the United States ahead of his return to the PGA Tour next year, McIlroy revealed his itinerary for the next few weeks will coincide with that of rumoured love interest, tennis star Caroline Wozniacki.
