Started by Samuel Rdyer, an English seed merchant, the Ryder Cup saw its roots beginning in the early 1900's. However fuddled the beginnings, the Cup has always been a tournament between the best in Great Britain and the best in the States.

Hall of Fame Induction Raises an Eyebrow

Golfer Fred Couples has been added to the list of 2013 Gofl Hall fo Fame inductees and it has made many people question the terms on which they decide who gets the cut. Although there is no doubt that Couples' is a very accomplished golfer, his resume seems light in comparison to others who were not on the list.

Golf Fundraiser in Michigan to Help with Local's Medical Bills

In Saginaw Township, Michigan, the ex-wife of Jason Young has organized a golf tournament to raise money to cover the medical bills of his sarcoidosis treatment. Young was diagnosed at the age of only 43 and is looking to undergo a lung transplant.

The Golf Channel is A New Number

TWC recently switched from analog to digital meaning it made a few changes to its line up. One of those changes was The Gofl Channel, formerly channel 35, and now channel 73. The only downside is if you're still using cable to receive television, you'll no longer receive the channel.

Deland Country Club Closes

Deland Country Club, a golf course and country club located in Deland, FL has shut its doors for the final time. Deland, along with many other golf courses, was hit hard by the recession and the demand for this type of leisure is dwindling.

Shin is Worry Free

Despite being delayed two hours due to weather conditions and lack of light, Jiyai Shin was still able to take the win at the LPGA Kingsmill Championship. Shin had been leading before the delay and left off with a tough chip shot. In the end, she had nothing to worry about.

Mahan Has a Bad Day

Going into the FedEx Cup, Hunter Mahan was seeded as one of the top players, however, due to a poor performance, Mahan was overlooked as a pick for the Ryder Cup captain. Mahan was one of many snubbed during the draft.

Hunter Gets Outplayed

Thought to be a shoe in for the Ryder Cup, Hunter Mahan was simply out played these last few weeks and was therefore looked over when it came to picking captains for the upcoming tournament. This all occurred despire Mahan being ranked higher than some of those actually picked.
